References Section
The references section of FlyBase displays all references that have been associated with the report being viewed. This tool offers many options for filtering by type, custom filtering, sorting, and exporting references.
Publication types
On the left hand side of the references section tool you will find a list of publication types. Each type of publication includes the number of references contained within that type. Clicking on the item will restrict the list of references on the right to that type. For example, clicking on "Research paper" will show only those references that have been categorized as such. On some gene reports a special publication type called "Representative publications" will be displayed. This type highlights those papers that have been flagged by FlyBase as providing in depth information on the gene in question.
