===== FlyBase Curator Position (UK) =====

We seek a biocurator to join the FlyBase group at the University of Cambridge, UK. If you are looking for a fulfilling, fly-related career away from the bench, and enjoy the challenge of organizing complex data clearly and concisely, then this is the job for you!

FlyBase biocurators identify genetic, genomic and functional data from scientific articles concerning the model organism Drosophila melanogaster and record these data in a systematic manner. We also develop and improve several ontologies - these are sets of defined terms, organized into logical hierarchies, which we use to describe phenotypes and other curated data. Additional activities of FlyBase curators include: developing strategies to improve data curation; helping to improve data display/querying on the website; and interacting with the research community through HelpMail, surveys and presentations/workshops at research conferences. Curators also have the opportunity to develop programming skills and contribute to FlyBase publications.
