The Interaction Report contains information for the physical interaction of two gene products (protein or RNA).

This is a field-by-field guide to the information provided in the Interaction Report.

General Information

Interaction Type Specifies the type of interaction. Currently, only "physical association" between the products of two genes (protein-protein or RNA-protein) is reported.
Interacting Genes Indicates the two genes involved in the interaction. Currently, only pair-wise interactions are reported.
FlyBase ID The FlyBase identifier number of the physical interaction, used to uniquely identify the interaction in the database.

Interaction Network

Interactions Browser links

For each gene in the interaction, a link to the FlyBase "Interactions Browser" is provided that will display all physical and/or genetic interactions for that gene.

esyN Network Diagram

All physical interactions for the two genes featured in this pairwise interaction report are displayed together in an esyN diagram. The two subjects of the interaction report are shaded in pink. Factors that interact with both subjects of the interaction report are shaded in purple, and placed in between the two report subjects. Layout options for the diagram are provided to the left.

Reported Interactions

Each reported instance of the interaction between the two genes is detailed in its own section. There is at least one reported interaction instance per interaction report.

<Section title> The section title is a unique identifier for each reported instance of the interaction. It typically contains the FlyBase "FBrf" reference ID for the publication from which the interaction was curated, an arbitrary numerical identifier, and a suffix that is suggestive of the assay methods used (e.g., coIP indicates coimmunoprecipitation, Y2H indicates yeast two hybrid).
Reference The publication in which this particular instance of the interaction was reported.
Description The type of interaction. Currently, most interactions are of type "physical association", though some "colocalization" interactions have been curated as well.
Assay The methods used to detect the interactions and identify the interacting participants. The terms listed are part of the PSI-MI controlled vocabulary used by FlyBase, which can be viewed on the FlyBase Vocabularies page.
Collection The large scale dataset from which the interaction instance was derived, if applicable.
Source/Stage The stage and tissue in which this interaction instance was observed.
Cell line used The Drosophila cell line in which this interaction instance was observed.

Participants

Information about each of the two gene products involved in the reported interaction instance.

Corresponds to The gene name and the gene product (protein or RNA).
Reported as The synonym used by the authors in referring to the gene product.
Role The experimental role of the gene product in the reported interaction (for example, bait, prey, enzyme, enzyme target, neutral component).
Note Any additional notes on the gene product, especially any epitope tags or labels used in the experiment.

Experimental entities

Information on other experimental entities in the reported interaction instance, such as peptides identified or reagents used.

Corresponds to Name of the entity.
Identifier A unique identifier for the entity.
Reported The synonym used by the authors in referring to the entity.
Role The experimental role of the entity in the reported interaction (for example, reagent or identified peptide).

Subregions with role in interaction

Information on subregions of the gene products important to the reported interaction instance.

Corresponds to Name of the gene product.
Description Description of the region of interest as provided by the reference.
Role The experimental role of the entity in the reported interaction (for example, sufficient binding site, necessary binding site, mutation disrupting mutation).
Coordinates Coordinates or sequence of the region of interest.
Notes Additional notes on the region of interest.

Isoform-specific participants

Information on isoform-specificity of the reported interaction instance.

Corresponds to Name of the gene product.
Description Description of the isoform provided by the reference.
Role The experimental role of the entity in the reported interaction.
Notes Additional notes on the isoform-specificity of the interaction.

Comments concerning this interaction

Additional comments on the reported interaction instance. This includes comments on the source of the two gene products tested, the experimental methods used and the authors' interpretation of the results.
